Production Blog: Transitions

Image
Crafting the perfect transitions for our video became a captivating challenge. We recognized the transitions as crucial elements in enhancing the flow of our storytelling. Experimentation became our mantra as we delved into various transition styles. From subtle fades to dynamic wipes, each transition held the potential to elevate our narrative. We spent hours meticulously fine-tuning each transition to ensure seamless continuity. Discussion and collaboration fueled our quest for the most effective transitions. Every transition was a puzzle piece, contributing to the overall coherence of our video. We explored different software tools and techniques to achieve the desired transitions. The process was a blend of creativity, trial, and error, as we sought the perfect balance. Sometimes, simplicity proved most impactful, while other moments called for flair and innovation. Each transition underwent rigorous scrutiny, ensuring it served the story without overshadowing it. We drew inspirati

Production Blog: Song Choice

Image
In the whirlwind of filmmaking, one of the most challenging tasks we encountered was finding the perfect song to accompany our scenes. We knew that the right music could elevate our film to new heights, but finding it proved to be a daunting endeavor. Hours were spent scouring through endless playlists, searching for that elusive melody that would capture the essence of our story. Each member of our team had their own vision for the soundtrack, leading to passionate debates and conflicting opinions. We experimented with various genres, from upbeat pop tunes to soulful ballads, hoping to strike the perfect chord with our audience. Despite our efforts, every song we considered seemed to fall short of our expectations. Frustration mounted as deadlines loomed, and the pressure to find the ideal track intensified. We revisited scenes repeatedly, attempting to synchronize them with different music choices, but nothing seemed to fit seamlessly. The search for the perfect song became a test of

Production Blog: Finishing Putting It Together

Today marked the grand finale of our editing journey! Before wrapping up editing, we decided to film some extra scenes just in case. We were thrilled to capture these final moments outside of our usual locations. Opting for my mom's spacious van for the car scenes was a stroke of genius It provided ample room for all our equipment and crew. Filming inside the van was an absolute riot! We couldn't resist goofing around and having a blast. We decided to take a leisurely lunch break. After we refueled before diving back into our editing tasks. The afternoon breezed by as we finished off the remaining shots in just an hour. With some daylight left, we treated ourselves to some relaxing fishing again . The serene waters provided the perfect backdrop for some additional footage. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we wrapped up filming. Each of us were brimming with pride at our accomplishments. Reflecting on the day, a wave of satisfaction washed over us. Each scene filmed brought

Production Blog: Editing

Now that we are done filming it is time to put it all together. We all agreed that Tom should be in charge of editing. He was in charge of editing for our last project together too. He has learned many new editing skills. Tom also has the best computer in our group. We were going to meet at his house, but decided to have our meeting over a phone call. This allowed more versatility for everyone. Our next step was figuring out which software to use. The options were Adobe or Cap-cut. After some deliberation we agreed on Cap-cut. After that we worked for a while. As Tom edited the clips together we would discuss what changes needed to be made. Maybe making a certain clip shorter or adding a certain effect to the scene. We definitely spent way too much time on the transitions though. I tried to integrate them into the clips, but it still took some time. The total time was about 4 hours. At least until my group decided it was enough editing. After that we reviewed the clips we had put toge

Production Blog: Final Filming Day

Image
Today's blog is the last one about filming. This blog is about any scenes that were not inside the house or in the street. This one is about the car scenes. The first step was figuring out whose car we wanted to use. We were fortunate to have several different options. We decided to use my moms van. We chose this because has the most space in the trunk. It was also the best for transporting all of our supplies. It would have been a little harder to fit all four of us in the car and all our equipment in any of our other choices. I thought yesterday's filming was going to be the most fun, but I was wrong. We all had a ton of fun driving around and filming. We took a break to get lunch around 2. Once again the filming went great. We got everything done within a reasonable amount of time. I think we only spent about an hour total filming. There really wasn't much left for us to do. After filming we all decided to go fishing. It was a nice and chilly day, so we wanted to do som

Production Blog: Filming Part 2

Todays blog is about filming, again. This time we filmed the night scenes. The best time for this was around 7 PM. The hardest part of the day was finding the right place. The street had to be empty. Traffic would have made filming in the middle of the street really hard. It could also have been too loud for the camera and blocked out our voices. To find the best street we just drove around. We spent almost 45 mins searching for the perfect place. Eventually we found it. It was just what we were looking for. It was dark and had almost no traffic. We got our places set up and got ready to film. Our group went over the script again. Then the angles and movements needed. Once everyone was ready and in place we started. These outdoor scenes were really fun to film. The only issue was the cold. We were outside for a while and it was windy. Filming took about 2 hours. Overall today went great and I'm excited for the next one.

Production Blog: First Day Filming

Image
We finally started filming today. Everyone arrived on time to my house. This was a great start. The first thing we did was organize our props. We need to assemble a few bags and some supplies to put inside. We decided to use duffel bags. We did this because they can open up to show lots of supplies. Once we had all of our supplies organized we started filming. The first things we shot were outside. We wanted to have a good establishing shot for our film. So, we spent way too long on that first shot. While we were outside we filmed the car shots as well. This meant we had to get in and out of the car and drive off several times to get the shot we wanted. After some time outside we finally moved inside. Now inside, we started filming the scenes with the props. Again, it took way longer for us to get the perfect birds-eye-view angle. Eventually, we got it right. After that, we got our costumes put together. We then filmed the introductory scene where the camera gets a full view of the ac

Production Blog: Schedule

Image
Today's blog is going to be about how we planned out our filming and editing schedule. We decided it would be a good idea to start filming early. So we all decided that the first step was make sure everyone understood the script. We all joined a call one night and spent about an hour and a half reviewing the script. We discussed lines, actions, and camera shots. Eventually we all agreed on everything. The next step was to find a date and time to start filming. Me and Nico were free the first weekend of February but Tom and Blake were not. Ironically, it was opposite the next weekend. The third weekend, we were all busy. However, we forgot there was no school Monday and decided to film then. Luckily I had gotten my license the week prior and no longer needed an adult to drive. This meant we had one less person to schedule around. We all met up at my house close to 1 pm. We decided to do the exterior shots first. Once the scene shifted into the door we all went inside. We gathered a
