Critical Reflection

 How do your products represent social groups or issues?  My short film focuses on the serious issue of drunk driving, a problem that affects countless individuals every year. The film aims to shed light on the devastating consequences of impaired driving, portraying both the direct and indirect victims of this preventable tragedy. One of the key social groups represented in the film is young drivers, who statistically are among the most at risk for alcohol-related crashes. The protagonist, a teenager who believes they are "fine to drive" after drinking, represents the common misconception that impaired judgment does not significantly impact driving ability. This false confidence is a widespread issue among young drivers, many of whom underestimate the effects of alcohol on their motor skills and reaction times.  When choosing the photos and videos I would be using for the commercial I had to think about what would best represent me. The first picture I decided to choose was one of me sitting in a Ferrari. The Ferrari belonged to one of my neighbors and I saw them outside, so I decided to go over and talk to them, which led to me sitting in their brand new Ferrari. The next picture I choose was one of me wearing a banana costume. I was at a debate tournament in Gainesville and I had brought a banana costume because it was the week of Halloween. So when the judge of the round said we could wear anything, I decided to wear the costume during the debate round. We did end up losing the round, but it was still one of the most fun and memorable debate rounds I have ever done. My third picture is of me looking up at a waterfall. The picture was taken in Juneau, Alaska at the Mendenhall Glacier.
